Bruce H. Poor is a land developer with a singular vision to preserve American farmland. Poor is passionate about organic practices, heritage breeds, the plight of the American farmer and the cultivation of land that works.
With FarmSavers TrustTM, he has developed a breakthrough market-driven model in which home developments and healthy farmland create value together.
Poor fell in love with land as a surveyor at the age of 16, and his reverence for land has been the touchstone that guides all his future developments. Before he launched his career as a successful real estate developer, he worked a land surveyor throughout the Northeast, mapping out the region’s highways and roads. Using precision instruments and walking the land, Poor gained an insight into what the land can do, quite literally, “from the inside out.”
Bruce H. Poor is inspired by the Scottish highlands, the land of his ancestors. The Scottish gentry allowed their livestock to forage and graze throughout the grounds, creating healthy working land that was not allowed to go fallow. Centuries in the making, this unintentional effect was a parkland management that replicated natural interactions of an old-growth forest where soil became richer, trees grew mighty and a diversity of indigenous wildlife thrived — the model today that is embraced as agroforestry.
